Emmaus High School’s student government and a departing local reporter were featured near the start of the East Penn School District board meeting on Monday.
Student updates: Lindsey Kaylor, representing the EHS Student Government Association, highlighted recent athletic successes — including a football win over Easton and upcoming district championship play against Parkland — and noted field hockey and cross‑country postseason achievements. She also listed student activities, travel opportunities (Iceland in June 2025; Spain and Portugal in 2026; an art‑department trip to Thailand) and college‑related supports such as instant‑decision days and counseling office visits.
Public comment: Jay Bradley, the East Penn area reporter for Lehigh Valley Public Media and LehighValleyNews.com, told the board he will leave the outlet this month to pursue opportunities that include travel and being closer to family. Bradley thanked district staff, board members and residents for access and responsiveness, urged financial support for nonprofit news in the region and encouraged community members to send press releases and story ideas to the newsroom. “I appreciate so much the openness and availability of those in the school community here,” Bradley said.
Board response: Board members publicly thanked Bradley for his coverage; Mr. Jankowski and others praised his fairness and integrity. The board also thanked the student journalists of the Stinger for recent national recognition; Doctor Campbell and the board said they would invite award recipients to a future meeting.
Ending note: The board received the student government report and public comment and continued with the meeting agenda; no formal action was associated with these reports.
