East Penn board approves routine personnel, curriculum and operations items; accepts donation

The East Penn School Board on July 8 approved a series of routine agenda items, including minutes, personnel appointments, curriculum conference approvals and a donor gift for an elementary library project.
After a motion and second, the board adopted the minutes from the June 24 regular meeting by roll call, with eight members voting in favor. The board then approved the personnel agenda, which included a correction to a temporary professional employee appointment for Nina Pollard. The board also accepted retirements approved in personnel: Tim Gallagher, a maintenance team member retiring in August after 37 years of service, and Serena Roland, an academic support assistant at Willow Lane Elementary with 12 years of service.
On business operations, the board approved items a through c as a package, including a $33,132.10 donation from the East Penn Education Foundation to support the Library 2.0 program at Jefferson Elementary School. Curriculum and educational-conference items were moved and approved by roll call. Dr. Campbell also provided routine district updates, including a transition to an online returning-student form for 2024'25, reminders about student registration and summer supplemental feeding distributions in partnership with Emmaus Rotary.
The joint operating committee report for LCTI noted new program approvals for Animal Sciences (expanded to grades 9'12), Emergency Health Services and Protective Services and shared SAP data showing a reduction in referrals for 2023'4.
The board announced it had met in executive session earlier to discuss negotiations and personnel, set its next regular meeting for Monday, Aug. 12 at 7:30 p.m., and adjourned.
