Building Committee approves $1.46M November invoice as contractor nears final occupancy

The Walpole Public Schools Building Committee on Dec. 10 approved the November vendor invoice package totaling $1,455,340.35, which includes a $1,200,000 requisition from Fontaine. Kate, project staff, presented the package and said Fontaine is currently about 97% complete with contract work.

Kate told the committee the November requisition and updated budget information are included in the invoice packet and that MSBA reimbursement status is noted in the package. She said the team is seeking committee approval of the $1,455,340.35 invoice list.

An on‑site construction representative reported progress on landscaping, permanent asphalt walkways and the band‑room extension, and said the site is “pretty much a 100% complete at this point.” Kate also said a final occupancy walkthrough with Jim Crowley is scheduled for the next day; if the walkthrough goes well, staff expected issuance of final occupancy.

The motion to approve the invoice package was moved by Miss Gaositz and seconded by Miss Galavan; the committee approved the payment package by roll call.

Other business: Kate reported no new communications to the MSBA and noted that site lighting programming is not final; the town and police are coordinating off‑hours shutoffs to comply with utility/energy code once final programming is complete.

The committee scheduled its next Building Committee meeting for Jan. 14 and proposed an earlier 5:30 p.m. start to accommodate a longer field discussion. The meeting adjourned following the finance and schedule items.
