The North Allegheny School Board approved an 18-item human-resources report June 12 that included appointments, resignations, retirements and wage adjustments.
Ms. Britton Dozier reviewed the HR packet and moved the items for board action. The board approved the appointment of six school police officer candidates pending completion of final requirements; Ms. Britton Dozier noted the board participated in candidate interviews. She also flagged several resignations and retirements and specifically recognized the retirement of Bill Kirk, the acting director of operations and facilities, who was present and thanked by board members for his decades of service.
Multiple board members recused themselves from supplemental items where immediate family members received supplemental pay; the meeting record shows three abstentions on supplemental item number 10. Mr. McClure and others offered personal thanks to Mr. Kirk and expressed confidence in the incoming director.
The HR packet passed with the recorded abstentions on supplemental pay items; the board also moved forward with appointment of a new NAI band director and other personnel items elsewhere on the agenda.
What happens next: the administration will finalize hires and complete required onboarding steps; the district will post opportunities to fill permanent facilities director responsibilities as needed.
