School Committee approves routine warrants, budget transfers and donations; sets budget hearing date

The Walpole School Committee approved routine financial and governance items during its Dec. 12 meeting. Motions carried to approve payroll warrants (identified in the packet), accounts payable warrants (numbers listed in committee materials), and a budget transfer totaling $90,736 that the committee said was included in the meeting packet.
The committee also accepted several donations: a $200 donation from the John D. Langley Foundation to Boynton Elementary School and $161.40 from Bay State Textiles to Fisher, Boyden and Walpole Middle School, both motions made and seconded and approved by voice vote. Committee members moved to approve minutes for the Nov. 14 meeting and to approve (with an amendment) the Dec. 5 meeting minutes.
During the superintendent’s report the committee was informed that scholarship awards totaling $117,500 were recently distributed (Veil/Leach/Rogers/Coonday scholarship committee). The district’s budget process is underway and members were reminded of a public budget hearing scheduled for Jan. 21.
The committee concluded with a motion to adjourn and extended holiday greetings to the community.
