The informal POST committee voted to decertify Officer Shelby Pomerantz of the Paris Police Department after the department presented a record of alleged untruthfulness and a history of prior discipline.
Assistant Chief Ian Reed told the commission the department terminated Pomerantz for dishonesty after a July incident and a pattern of prior write‑ups and performance issues. Pomerantz, who was represented by counsel Jack Leonard, said she had been a victim of domestic violence in one incident and disputed some characterizations; counsel asked the commission to allow her to continue in law enforcement and emphasized mitigating context.
After discussion, Commissioner Jeffers moved to decertify; Commissioner Beverly seconded and the motion carried by voice vote (record states two ayes, one nay). The commission ordered investigator follow‑up to explain next steps and appeal rights.
Separately, the panel considered three officers — Ralph Confer, Anasia Lunsford and Brentley Atkins — who had been submitted for decertification based on resignation in lieu of termination or termination. The committee moved and approved decertification by default for those three individuals.
