The informal POST committee voted to take no action today on a Greenbrier Police Department officer after investigators found inconsistent responses on academy and hiring paperwork about prior military service.
Kevin Craig, a POST investigator, told the committee he found documentation showing the officer, Devin McGlasson, had an uncharacterized DD214 that would require a waiver for academy attendance and certification. Craig said the officer later provided the DD214 and the hiring agency had sought a waiver to address the discrepancy.
McGlasson told commissioners he did not intend to deceive the agency and said he had supplied his DD214 to his employer; he described the discrepancies as clerical errors. Given that the agency planned to present a waiver the next day, Commissioner Jeffers moved for no action; Commissioner Beverly seconded and the motion passed.
POST staff noted the officer remains on the agency agenda and that the waiver outcome will be considered when the full commission hears the matter.
