Recommendations included a recommendation to decertify an officer in the Chattanooga Police Department (Celtain Batterson) and a default decertification for a Metro Nashville officer (Ralph Confer) following resignation in lieu of termination. The commission voted to adopt the subcommittee’s report on a voice roll call; multiple 'aye' votes were recorded and the motion carried. Commissioners noted that on several matters staff is working to obtain voluntary orders of suspension from respondents so cases can remain in suspended status pending potential criminal matters or further proceedings.
The action moves those recommendations into the full commission’s records and, where recommended, initiates decertification processes or schedules further hearings. The commission did not announce additional disciplinary details on cases that were reset or under active investigation.
Chair Faulkner asked for a motion to approve and the motion carried on a recorded voice call. Staff will proceed in accordance with the recommendations and return cases to the commission as hearings or scheduling require.
