Gina Hubbard, director of statewide outreach, presented a detailed recap of the 57th annual CareerTech summit held in Tulsa, reviewing attendance and engagement metrics, vendor participation and honors presented to educators and administrators.
Hubbard described conference logistics and analytics—including exhibitor participation, staff involvement and social-media engagement—and noted out-of-state visitors from the Association for Career and Technical Education (ACTE). The summit’s sessions included a keynote by Michael Bonner (Ron Clark Academy System) and remarks by Representative Kyle Hilbert on the legislative process.
Awards presented at the summit included Gold Star School recognitions (21 recipients), the Francis Tuttle award to Dwight Hughes (Autry Tech), a lifetime achievement award to Angela Durant Tyson and teacher and administrator honors across divisions. Express Personnel Services awarded $27,500 in cash prizes to outstanding system staff; examples cited included a $5,000 award to Karen Nail (Autry Tech) and a $10,000 prize to new teacher Robert Johnson (Moore Norman Technology Center).
Hubbard closed by stressing the summit’s role as professional development and networking for CareerTech educators and said Tulsa will host the summit for another two years.
