The Oklahoma CareerTech Board voted to accept official election results and annex Konawa Public Schools into Ponotok Technology Center District No. 14, a board staff member told the panel.
Gina Hubbard, director of Statewide Outreach, said Konawa voters approved the annexation on Aug. 27 by a vote of 225 to 193 and that the annexation represents a grassroots effort led by local superintendents. The board moved and seconded approval and completed a roll call vote; members present recorded affirmative votes and the motion carried.
Board members noted that the board’s one‑time funding last year had helped districts begin similar transitions and that future appropriations will address ongoing needs for schools added to technology center districts. Hubbard said she would remain engaged with Konawa during implementation.
Next steps include recording the annexation in agency records and coordinating any operational adjustments between Konawa Public Schools and Ponotok Technology Center leadership.
