Juvenile services awarded State Justice Institute grant for RFK review

A county presenter reported the juvenile department submitted an application to the State Justice Institute for technical assistance and was notified last week that it received grant funding to contract with the RFK National Resource Center for Juvenile Justice.
The review will run about a year and aims to identify strengths and areas for change in juvenile services to align county practice with leading practices. The process will involve county departments, court partners, the district attorney’s office, defense counsel and contract providers.
Interim director Jennifer Curley is working with RFK to put the contract in place; once the final report and recommendations are complete, the juvenile department will prioritize next steps.
The update was presented as an opportunity to assess operational effectiveness and identify improvements in service delivery.
