Washington County staff recommends two appointments to Advisory Council on Racial Equity

Amanda Garcia, community engagement manager, told the Washington County Board of Commissioners the Advisory Council on Racial Equity (ACRE) reviewed six applicants to fill three vacancies and that two candidates were recommended for appointment.
ACRE’s membership subcommittee interviewed applicants and, at its most recent meeting, voted unanimously to recommend Iman Abbas and Diego Yara Palazzi for board appointment. Garcia said one applicant asked not to be considered and three could not be interviewed during this recruitment period.
The county invited the recommended appointees to attend the ACRE meeting on Jan. 6; the board will consider the formal appointments on Jan. 7. Garcia said applicant summaries are included in the packet for commissioners to review.
The recommendations are advisory until the board takes action at the scheduled meeting.
