Umatilla County on Dec. 11 approved an agreement with the Oregon Department of Emergency Management for the Emergency Management Performance Grant (EMPG) for fiscal year 2024–25 in the amount of $84,274.
Emergency management staff said the grant will supplement program operational costs but stressed that recent state requirements increase reporting and exercise documentation. A staff speaker said some of the new paperwork requires lengthy written after-action documentation and that the county already has completed most qualifications for the year.
Commissioners urged county staff to seek legislative support for higher reimbursement rates to keep pace with inflation and added requirements. The board voted to approve the EMPG agreement and forward the documentation as required.
