Marion County approves uniform contracts and adds Silverton to SWAT IGA

The Marion County Board of Commissioners on Dec. 4 approved two three-year contracts to supply uniforms, duty gear and embroidery services for the Sheriff’s Office and amended an interagency SWAT agreement to add the City of Silverton.
Jeremy Landers, operations commander with the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, told the board the county issued two contracts — one with Greystone Tactical and one with 911 Supply — each in the amount of $500,000 and effective Jan. 1, 2025, through Dec. 31, 2027, with an option to extend for two additional years. "The purpose behind the contract is to... have multiple vendors available to provide uniforms, duty gear, and other, critical, uniform type supplies for deputies and... staff," Landers said.
Commissioner (S2) moved to approve both contracts and Commissioner (S1) seconded; the board approved the motion by voice vote.
Sheriff Nick Hunter presented an amendment to the interagency special weapons and tactics (SWAT) team IGA to add the City of Silverton. Hunter said the IGA, created in 2017 and later expanded, assigns personnel from member jurisdictions to strengthen the team and that the Silverton addition would add a negotiator position. "That additional personnel helps us to offset some of the Marion County personnel... and makes that team stronger and makes it safer for everyone here in Marion County," Hunter said. He told the board the amendment has no fiscal impact because it governs personnel assignment and rules.
The board approved the SWAT IGA amendment by voice vote.
