The Ethics Commission voted to rescind penalties and related collection actions for a group of individuals after staff confirmed the respondents had not owed statements of interest.
Miss Williams, a staff member who presented the item, told the commission that the people listed were previously assessed for failing to file but had since contacted the office and staff had verified each person "did not owe the statement of interest." The commission agreed to handle the listed matters in bulk rather than individually.
The chair read the list of affected individuals for the record: Andrew Atkins; Portia Goodman; Will Green; Tony Jones; Jeff Knox; Salvador Mejia; Steven North; Jennifer O'Connell; Zachary Phillips; John Reed; Krasuma Robinson; Christopher Sexton; and Todd Wade. A member moved and Member Richardson seconded the motion to rescind the assessed penalties; the commission approved the rescission by voice vote.
The action will remove the previously assessed enforcement actions against those individuals; staff did not indicate outstanding collection amounts for each case in the public discussion. The commission did not undertake further individual findings at the meeting and moved on to the next agenda items.
