Laura West of La Grange addressed the board during public comment saying she has not seen updates on flooding applicable to her neighborhood (transcript: 'North Of 40 Seventh') and urged that the village prioritize stormwater concerns during the upcoming strategic planning session.
Manager Knight and Trustee Augustine responded that an engineering study focused on the Maple Avenue area is in progress and anticipated to be completed around the close of the year. Knight said the study’s results will be presented to the board, and the board will have the opportunity to consider and prioritize recommended projects and associated budget requests once the report is available.
West told trustees she follows the village website for updates and emphasized the time-sensitivity of flood risk, saying "every week is a long time, and every month without rain is another lucky one." The board acknowledged the comment and signaled they would schedule a presentation when the engineering report is complete.
