City manager updates: parade route revised; legislative priorities include school construction and property tax relief

She said the Maine Education Association intends to ask for $150 million in annual school construction funding separate from the aid-to-education formula; the committee will also seek increases in general assistance reimbursement rates, pilot ambulance and paramedicine billing for non-transport services under MaineCare, and additional state support for county jails. Lori said the platform’s top priority is property tax relief and mentioned proposals such as doubling the homestead exemption and increasing reimbursement for statutorily authorized property tax exemptions.
Lori also noted staff have connected residents who asked about fluoride to the Water District Board meeting, which she said is the appropriate forum for those concerns.
