Evergreen playground fundraising and Lenape Arboretum boardwalk repairs move forward

Perkiomen Valley administrators updated the committee on two campus-adjacent projects: a proposed Evergreen playground and repairs and enhancements at the Lenape Arboretum and Muhlenberg Woods.
On Evergreen, Speaker 5 (mister Marsh) said staff will develop three package options for areas 1 and 2 and hold a community meeting in January to collect input. "The mock ups... have us landing in the range of about 145 to $150,000 with Home and School working to fundraise up to 15 to $20,000 for us," he said, adding the district hopes to have the playground available to fifth-graders in the spring. Administration plans to return to the committee at the end of January to seek approval after community input.
Dr. Clune (Speaker 6) and Speaker 2 described Lenape Arboretum work to repair a 116-foot boardwalk behind Bridal School East, add two viewing platforms and install railings and bump-outs so classes can observe the environment. The speakers also described a new blazed trail to complete a circuit for a 22-station storybook trail and plans to replace collapsed TechEd-built bridges; they said permits are being coordinated with township officials. Speaker 6 said volunteers and TechEd originally built components more than 25 years ago and that safety and durability improvements are needed. The Lenape Arboretum has received a $7,500 foundation award toward these upgrades, Speaker 6 said.
Staff did not request funding approval at the meeting; they will return after community engagement and permit confirmations with detailed cost and schedule information.
