The Perkiomen Valley School District board on Monday recognized East High’s Esports club and heard an annual report from the team’s advisor and student captain detailing recent competitive results, student opportunities and facility improvements.
The club adviser (identified in the record with variant spellings) described how the program’s build-out and partnerships — including membership in the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Esports Association and a streaming partner — have increased visibility and created opportunities for students. He said the team streamed matches, earned jerseys through a partner and scored wins such as a 13–0 Valorant match against Portage Area.
Student team captain Joshua described competing in state-level tournaments, reaching state finals in Valorant and playoff runs in Overwatch, and noted that several students have earned or been offered esports-related scholarships. The adviser and captain also highlighted ancillary opportunities: student-created logos and roles that involve coaching and collaboration rather than only gameplay.
Board members thanked the club for the presentation. The board recessed briefly after the recognition and then continued with the agenda.
