Committee gives favorable action on Eamon Kernan reappointment to Conservation Commission

The Everett Legislative Affairs and Elections Committee on Oct. 28 gave favorable action to the reappointment of Eamon Kernan to the Conservation Commission for a three-year term expiring Oct. 31, 2027. The committee read a written communication from Kernan and heard supporting remarks from Council President Robert VanCampen before approving the motion by voice vote.

A staff member read Kernan’s written submission into the record. In that communication Kernan wrote that he resides at 58 Holly Ave in Everett, has lived there since 1991 with his wife and three children, attached his resume and professional license, and described himself as "a professional civil engineer with 36 years experience" currently employed at MassDOT as a project manager on major projects. Kernan wrote that he has served on Everett’s Conservation Commission since 2002.

Council President Robert VanCampen spoke in favor of Kernan’s reappointment, saying Kernan "has really served our community with great distinction, as a member of the Conservation Commission since 2002" and praising his engineering background and community commitment. A motion for favorable action was made and seconded and approved by voice vote. Kernan was not present at the meeting but the committee recorded his written communication and supportive remarks from members.

The action taken was procedural approval of the reappointment and does not by itself record the final administrative step to confirm the appointment under any further city procedures; the item was approved by the committee to be forwarded per the council’s process.
