The clerk’s reading noted the honoree’s education and tenure, including ties to Tufts University, residency and practice at Mass General Hospital, service as medical director and involvement in initiatives such as tobacco regulation and a citywide ban on artificial trans fats; councilors thanked him for his leadership through the COVID‑19 response and wished him well in retirement.
The council suspended rules so the honorees could be photographed and multiple councilors offered public thanks and recognition.
