Danni Langford opened public comment by congratulating the new trustees and urging independent decision-making from the dais: "Please don't do that anymore. Please. We need independent thinkers. We need conscientious thinkers," she said. The board had earlier read its public-comment rules, noting written comments are accepted through 3 p.m. the day of the meeting, the board may limit total public input to 20 minutes and individual speakers to three minutes, and speakers were warned that naming students or making derogatory comments…
