At its Sept. 12 meeting the Chelsea Licensing Commission approved a requested change to operating hours for Green Star Herbals, d/b/a RISE, a cannabis dispensary at 200 Beacham Street.
Kaye Doyle, who identified herself as the director of government affairs for Green Star Herbals, and Matt Brown, the store general manager, told the board they sought a one‑hour extension on evenings to accommodate customers who cannot arrive by 9 p.m. Doyle said the store is in an industrial district with mostly non‑residential neighbors and that no neighbors had voiced objections to the proposal.
Doyle estimated roughly 35–40 customers passed through during the last hour of operation on a typical evening and said the following hour would likely see slightly fewer customers while offering additional work time for employees.
Sergeant Chung and licensing staff reported no outstanding public-safety concerns associated with the location; no members of the public objected during the hearing. Commissioner questions focused on expected late‑evening traffic and whether the change would meaningfully alter neighborhood impacts.
A motion to approve the completed application for the amended hours carried; commissioners recorded their assent. The new hours were approved to move the closing hour from 9 p.m. to 10 p.m.
