At the November meeting the commission approved several individual handicap-parking requests and took administrative action on temporary contractor parking requests.
Applications heard included a request from Yana (Anna) Hernandez for an additional handicap space on Chester Avenue; commissioners approved the application after discussion of proximity and driveway use. Janice Fields and Denise Perez also spoke about access challenges near their homes and had their handicap-space requests approved. Commissioners discussed the difficulty of allocating spaces in dense neighborhoods and noted that driveways or close-by existing spots affect decisions.
The commission also acted on a staff proposal to relocate one accessible space from Broadway to Marlborough so that one accessible space remains directly in front of the library and a second sits nearer the accessible entrance; that motion carried.
A daytime temporary-parking request from Alternative Creative Energy for multiple crew spaces was discussed; the commission moved the application to a public hearing and indicated a willingness to consider two temporary daytime supervisor spaces as a likely compromise given prior precedent on similar requests.
