At a special Tuolumne County Board of Supervisors meeting on Jan. 6, the board elected Jaren Brandon as chair for 2025 and approved a vice-chair appointment. The board then placed two personnel-evaluation items on the Jan. 14 agenda.
A supervisor nominated Jaren Brandon for chair, and the board called for public comment before taking a voice vote; the nomination was approved. Later, a motion was made to nominate Supervisor Campbell as vice chair; that nomination was seconded and approved after the board opened public comment and heard no speakers.
The clerk read two agenda-placement motions. The first asked the board to place an item on the Jan. 14, 2025 agenda to discuss holding an annual performance review of the county administrator in February 2025. Supervisor Kirk said the new board should hold the CAO evaluation soon and asked for support to bring the matter back on Jan. 14. The board opened public comment (no speakers), moved and seconded the item, and recorded the motion as passing with a "50" result.
The second motion asked to return responsibility for appointed department head annual evaluations to the board beginning in February 2025 and to place that discussion also on Jan. 14. A supervisor explained the request and asked for board support; the board opened public comment (none), made and seconded the motion and again recorded a "50" result when approving placement on the Jan. 14 agenda.
The meeting adjourned at 12:22 p.m.
