The Chelsea Licensing Commission closed a continued disciplinary hearing on Dec. 12 involving Palmer Food & Fuel LLC, doing business as Easy Mart at 177 Washington Ave., after the licensee demonstrated compliance with a police-identified requirement to maintain 30 days of video surveillance.
The matter was brought to the commission following Chelsea Police report 24-1532 alleging failure to maintain required video surveillance. Fahad, representing Easy Mart, told the commission he had provided the requested footage and compliance materials to police and apologized for his repeated appearances before the panel: "I just wanna say 1 thing. I just wanna apologize for the time I've taken. I've I've been here quite a few times." Officer Santiago, reading a compliance check conducted by Officer Nicole McLaughlin, reported that the store was in compliance as of the most recent inspection and that price signage, ID checks and camera footage had been provided.
Commissioners discussed the typical 30-day correction period police provide for licensees to remedy deficiencies, emphasized the importance of prompt corrective action when cited, and reminded licensees of the city—s plastic-bag rules in a related exchange. After commissioners indicated the situation appeared remedied, a motion to close the disciplinary hearing with no disciplinary action carried by voice vote.
The commission made clear that repeat failures to comply could prompt future enforcement.
