Tuolumne County swears in three supervisors; presiding judge urges upholding constitutions

At a special Tuolumne County Board of Supervisors meeting at noon Jan. 6, three elected supervisors were sworn into office in a short ceremonial session.
Donnie McNair, the county clerk and auditor-controller, introduced Mike Holland, Steven Grieffer and Jaren Brandon as the officials to be sworn. Judge Sieber of the Tuolumne County Superior Court administered the oath and spoke to the new officials about the obligations that come with public office.
In remarks before administering the oath, Judge Sieber said officials must protect constitutional rights for all residents, including those in the minority. The oath was recited aloud as part of the ceremony: "I do solemnly swear that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States and the Constitution of the State of California..." The newly sworn supervisors were congratulated following the oath.
The ceremonial portion concluded with brief photographs and a short recess. The board reconvened to complete organizational items and adjourned the meeting at 12:22 p.m.
