The Coalinga‑Huron Unified School District board approved a package of routine business items during its Oct. 17 meeting, including contracts, grants, policy waivers and required reports.
Key approvals included: rescheduling the 2024 organizational meeting to Tuesday, Dec. 17 to comply with meeting-window requirements; waiving the first reading and approving Board Bylaw 9220 (elections); approving a contract with Karen Wigginton for bus and van driver training (cost not to exceed $5,000); authorizing routine bleacher maintenance by American Eagle Enterprise (about $8,200); renewing a mobile device management service with an estimated cost of about $79,000 (general fund); and accepting a yearly Chevron grant for $50,000 to support the district's Wings of Knowledge program.
Instructional and training items approved included the quarterly Williams Uniform Complaints report (no complaints for Q1 July–Sept), renewal of 3rd Millennium classrooms support ($45,100) tied to LCAP goal 2, and engaging Family Leadership Inc. for a parent-trainer program ($38,573) funded through a community schools program implementation grant. Human Resources reported on the Educator Effectiveness funding grant and approved an MOU to supervise an associate clinical social worker locally. Several administrative regulations and board policies (including purchasing, discrimination-complaints ARs, reasonable accommodations, employee use of technology, and certificated personnel BP 4100) were presented and approved with staff notes about highlighted changes.
