Coalinga-Huron board approves consent calendar, bond oversight appointment, curriculum addendum and personnel actions

The board appointed Ron Ramsey to the citizen bond oversight committee required by Measure S and approved the consent calendar without separate discussion. Staff asked the board to ratify an outstanding payment to Save Mart tied to ASB charges; administration said ASB will reimburse the district. Trustees also approved renewal of the district website contract with Aptegegen Incorporated and ratified emergency locating and temporary generator costs for an electrical problem at Bishop school (staff reported locating and rental costs of about $75,000).
The board approved a negotiated renewal of the district’s Zoom license at about $7,989 annually after staff reduced active user counts and noted the district can expand licenses if usage increases.
On instructional items, the board opened and closed the public hearing on sufficiency of instructional materials for 2024–25 and adopted the required resolution by roll call (Trustees Chavez, Diaz, Campbell, Crawford and President Culbertson all voted yes). The board also approved a CCAP addendum with West Hills Community College District to add a child development pathway that allows CHS students to earn dual enrollment credit and certificates at no additional cost to the district.
Human resources items approved included a provisional internship permit for Blake Wong to address a local teacher shortage and an MOU with CSEA Chapter 90 to formalize a classified employee position and rate of pay for Payne Ramos; staff reported no additional financial impact for the MOU. The board reported out a closed‑session administrative recommendation to expel a student (case 24/25‑1), which the trustees approved unanimously on roll call.
