The Coalinga‑Huron Unified School District Board of Education on Oct. 17 approved an amendment extending Acting Superintendent Mr. Garza's employment agreement through Nov. 30, 2024, or until the regular superintendent returns, whichever comes first. Board members moved and seconded the amendment and approved it by voice vote.
Board members also reported action taken in closed session on an appeal under Board policy and Administrative Regulation 4030: the board voted to uphold an investigator's findings on a complaint against an employee and directed staff to provide written notice to the involved parties. The motion on the appeal was made by Trustee Crawford and seconded by Trustee Chavez and passed unanimously by roll call.
At the meeting's conclusion the chair read a prepared statement thanking Mr. Garza "for remaining as our acting superintendent while Superintendent Villanueva is on leave," and noted that personnel privacy prevents the board from discussing the superintendent's leave status in detail.
