The Coalinga-Huron Unified School District Board of Trustees on Nov. 13 approved an employment agreement to appoint Mrs. Adela Jones as acting superintendent, effective Dec. 1, 2024. The term runs through June 30, 2025, or until the district’s returning superintendent resumes duties, whichever comes first.
Board members said the appointment is intended to allow current staff to focus on educational services while additional leadership capacity is provided. The written agreement specifies compensation of $1,000 per day for up to 70 days of work, payment of Association of California School Administration dues and expense reimbursement for mileage, cell phone and related costs, and lodging reimbursement up to $2,000 upon submission of receipts. The contract was placed in the back of the boardroom for public review before the vote.
The board moved and seconded the contract and approved it in open session. The motion carried following a roll-call vote recorded in the meeting transcript. Trustees asked clarifying questions about scheduling and were told the 70-day cap is the total allowable days under the agreement.
