Baker County TDC approves $17,896 advertising grant for county fair

The Baker County Tourist Development Council on Wednesday approved a $17,896 funding request from the Baker County Fair Association to pay for advertising ahead of the county fair.
Roger Lane, representing the fair association, told the council the fair is three weeks away and that the request would cover out-of-county advertising and digital tracking services. Lane said the association's insurance premium had jumped sharply, noting, "It's now at 24,000 a year" compared with $12,000 two years ago and $15,000 last year. The fair dates were confirmed as Oct. 22'27.
Council members asked how the requested amount fit into the event budget and whether the request covered only advertising. The chair recorded a motion to approve the $17,896 request, which was seconded; the motion carried with all members saying "aye." No member recorded a dissenting vote.
The council also reminded applicants that TDC-funded promotional materials must include the Baker County seal and the statement "sponsored by the Baker County Tourist Development Council."
