Blanchard said the project was competitively procured and that the award requires no local match. He explained the expectation (based on earlier conversations during the application) that the sheriff’s office would advance project costs and seek reimbursement through the grant process. The board moved to accept the award and approved the acceptance by voice vote.
Commissioners asked logistical questions about who will pay bills up front and who will oversee construction; Blanchard said the sheriff’s office had been expected to front the money and that project oversight would be managed by county staff. Officials said the county will follow its standard procurement process as it solicits vendors for work.
