Leon County approves three-year tourism legacy grants for five events

The Leon County Commission unanimously approved three-year tourism legacy grant agreements Dec. 10 for five regional events, authorizing funding agreements for fiscal years 2025–27.
County staff recommended awards to support Springtime Tallahassee, the LeMoyne/Chater Park Art Festival, Market Days, the ASG Capital Cup and the Florida State Invitational. Tourism staff told commissioners that the awards follow the board’s program-evaluation criteria and that adequate funding is available.
Commissioners discussed long-term venue capacity and market size in relation to attracting larger touring acts and events. Tourism Director Carrie Post said larger arena shows are venue-dependent and suggested that renovations to regional stadiums and venue improvements would expand the county’s ability to attract higher-ticket artists. The board praised recent event successes, noted the county's bicentennial programming and approved the staff recommendations unanimously.
