Darnell Simpson will continue as chair of the Lincoln County School District No. 2 board after members nominated and approved him during the annual officer elections. Board members nominated Jed Johnson as vice chair, Lynn Call as clerk and Connie Day as treasurer; each nomination was approved by voice vote.
The annual reorganization also included an appointment to the Wyoming School Boards Association regional delegation. The board approved Lynn Call to serve as the district’s Region 19 representative, a post that involves attending four annual meetings (Cheyenne in February, Riverton in April, a July meeting set by the WSBA president, and Casper in October).
Member nominations were on the record: “I nominate Darnell Simpson for the chair,” said the board member who made the motion. “I would nominate Jed Johnson as the vice chair,” another member said. The board followed each nomination with a voice vote and recorded the motions as carried.
The board also filled the internal policy committee by appointing three members to avoid creating a quorum during committee meetings; Mr. Wilkes, Mr. Johnson and Mrs. Day were identified as the committee membership during the meeting.
The meeting minutes show no recorded roll-call tallies for the officer votes; the board approved each position by unanimous voice vote or by the recorded “aye” responses during the meeting. The board closed the reorganization items and moved on to regular reports and action items.
