Lincoln County School District #2 highlights strong accountability results, flags postsecondary readiness

School leaders presented the district accountability report under the Wyoming Accountability and Education Act (WAEA) and the federal Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA), reviewing color-coded ratings and indicator scores for elementary and secondary schools.

The accountability lead explained the four elementary indicators (achievement, growth, equity and English-learner progress) and described the cut scores and color-coded ratings. Several elementary schools were rated "exceeding expectations." The presenter said principals use the packet data to set school goals.

For secondary schools, the presenter noted the additional indicators used (graduation rate, postsecondary readiness and ninth-grade credits earned). Several high schools met expectations; Starville Middle School was described as "partially meeting expectations," driven largely by equity and postsecondary readiness measures. The presenter said administrators have created improvement plans to address those gaps.

Superintendent and trustees praised teachers and staff for overall performance. The presenter noted the district continues to score above the state ACT average and that a small statewide dip in ACT scores appeared in the packet. Board members said the full reports are available on the Wyoming Department of Education site and encouraged public review.

Trustees asked for follow-up on postsecondary readiness and ninth-grade credit attainment, areas identified in the report as needing continued focus. The accountability presenter and principals will provide targeted improvement plans and metrics at future meetings.
