Cheryl Nicks addressed the St. Joseph County Board of Commissioners during public comment on Dec. 23, thanking the board for ARP-funded projects in the county and urging continued support for the public library.

"I've noticed, in my time of watching the commissioners that the American Rescue Plan funds have have done so much for our county," Nicks said. She added, naming several elected officials, that "Rudy Yacom voted against it. Tad Young voted against it. Senator Braun voted against it," while saying the funds "have done, great things for our county, paving roads and etcetera."

Nicks also thanked commissioners for a recent reappointment vote: she praised what she described as a motion by Commissioner Dieter and a second by Commissioner Baxmayer to reappoint Alan Feldbaum to the library board and urged protection of the library as "a great asset." Nicks noted the meeting was Commissioner Dieter’s last meeting but said she planned to return to offer a final goodbye at the next meeting.

The chair invited additional public comments; none were offered. The meeting then moved to announcements about scheduling and recessed shortly thereafter.
