Health department renews contract for data analyst as CDC funding shifts to Health First Indiana

The St. Joseph County Health Department asked the commissioners on Dec. 10 to renew the employment contract of Peter Duffy, a contracted data analyst who writes and maintains the department's REDCap database.
Mike Scribe, director of operations for the Department of Health, said Duffy "writes and maintains our REDCap system" and that the system documents department work and maintains interfaces with state systems. Scribe told commissioners the CDC currently funds the position through 2025 but funding will shift to Health First Indiana for the remainder of that year.
Commissioners moved to take the item off the table, then voted to approve the contract renewal. Board members said continued local data collection is important both for internal operations and for making a case for future public‑health funding.
