The St. Joseph County Board of Commissioners on Dec. 10 approved three change orders for the Larson Road lift station force main replacement, producing a net contract increase of $18,560.50 and adding 90 days to the construction schedule.
Skye Metters of the Department of Infrastructure Planning and Growth told the board that change order 2 increases the contract by $185,508, change order 3 reduces it by $62,365 and change order 4 reduces it by $104,582.50. "When it's all said and done, the overall total of the 3 change orders represents an increase in the contract of $18,560.50," Metters said.
Metters also said there were manholes removed from the contract and other modifications that together explained the net change. Commissioners asked whether further change orders were expected; Metters responded there will likely be additional change orders in the future but that the current net increase is much lower than the earlier change order number one, which added over $1,000,000.
The board moved, seconded and approved the three change orders and the time extension by voice vote.
