The St. Joseph County Board of Commissioners on October 29 approved a bid recommendation for phase 3 of the SJEC water treatment plant project and asked procurement and the redevelopment commission to proceed with tabulation and next steps.
Bill Shaleo, the county’s economic development director, told commissioners the redevelopment commission had awarded the project to HRP Construction “in the amount of $25,897,000” and asked the board to approve the bid recommendation for the county’s portion of the process. Commissioners then moved and voted to approve the recommendation.
Why it matters: the phase 3 work is part of a multi-stage upgrade to the regional water-treatment system managed through the redevelopment commission and the county; approving the recommendation allows procurement to proceed with contract finalization and any required compliance steps.
What happened next: the board’s action was a formal approval of the bid recommendation; staff will return with final tabulation and recommendation for contract award and any required documentation.
Who spoke: Bill Shaleo presented the recommendation.
