Redevelopment commission OKs one-year right-of-entry lease with Ryan Company for contractor parking

The St. Joseph County Redevelopment Commission approved a one-year right-of-entry agreement Oct. 22 that allows Ryan Company, the developer working on the AWS site, to use a commission-owned parcel at the northwest corner of Early and Walnut for contractor parking and staging.
Staff said the temporary lease sets a monthly rental, allows the developer to coordinate landscaping work (the developer offered to help with required buffer plantings) and permits the commission to terminate the agreement at any time with 60 days' written notice. The agreement also requires Ryan Company to provide information about what is stored on the site and to remove items within 14 days if the commission objects.
Commissioners voted to approve the document subject to the developer's final legal review; the vote was unanimous among those recorded (Mister Lane, Mister Horvath, Mister Jordan 'Aye').
What happens next: Staff will complete final documents, coordinate landscaping and manage the short-term lease; the parcel is intended to be restored for future buffer-area development once the temporary use ends.
