The board approved the professional services proposal after county staff summarized the work needed on the New Carlisle economic development district. An unidentified staff member said the proposal covers preparation of a redevelopment-district engagement bond letter and asked the board for approval, noting an estimated fee was discussed but the transcripted figure appears unclear.
"At your last meeting, you had tabled a professional service proposal from Burns and Thornburg LLP," the staff member told the board. "We would ask for your approval for this professional service proposal within this range." The presentation prompted a move to approve, which was seconded and carried with all members present voting in favor.
County staff also reported that no bids were received at the scheduled opening and asked the board to authorize re-advertising the Phase 3 construction procurement. The staff member outlined proposed advertisement dates in local newspapers and a projected bid-opening date.
"Because we did not receive bids today, what we'd like to do is go back to the process again," the staff member said, proposing advertising in the Mishawaka Enterprise on Oct. 3 and Oct. 10 and in the Tribune on Oct. 4 and Oct. 11, with a projected bid opening on Oct. 22. The board voted to authorize the advertising; the motion carried unanimously.
The meeting included a public-comment period during which no speakers came forward. The board then moved to adjourn.
