Clerk requests and wins short-term RBM contract to support county election equipment

Amy Rolfes, Clerk of the Court, asked the board Sept. 10 to approve an RBM Consulting contract and addendum to support election equipment and processes through December. Rolfes said the county has more than 1,000 pieces of equipment and asked the board to approve a short-term, largely service-focused contract while the clerk's office updates its contracts.
"They are the ones that actually do a lot of the programming of the election equipment," Rolfes said, describing uploads to poll pads, FreedomVote machines and optical-scan machines. She said RBM is based in Illinois and travels to the county, and that the firm had reimbursed the county "almost $14,000" for unused service days and for correcting an error. Rolfes said she asked for the contract to ensure that clerk's office contracts are recent and reviewed.
A motion to approve the RBM contract was made and seconded; Commissioners Dieter, Hazen and the commissioner identified in the roll call as Bachmeier/Baxmyer voted "Aye" and the motion carried. The contract will run through December and the clerk's office will track service days and reimbursements as part of implementation.
Rolfes framed the request as part of routine oversight of taxpayer funds and said the contract will allow election equipment to be serviced for upcoming elections; the board approved the request.
