Votes at a glance: St. Joseph County commissioners approve multiple utility contracts, table one auditor contract

St. Joseph County commissioners moved through routine business Sept. 10, approving the accounts payable docket and a series of contract awards while postponing one auditor software decision for additional review.
The board approved the accounts payable docket after a motion and second; Commissioners Dieter, Hazen and Baxmyer each voted "Aye." The board then voted to table the bid recommendation and award for the Saint Joseph Energy Center Water Treatment Plant Phase 3 expansion until the Sept. 24 meeting at staff request.
The board approved two infrastructure contracts presented by Bill Shaleo of the Department of Infrastructure Planning and Growth. CNE Excavating was approved as the low bidder for the State Road 2 Force Main Lift Station, Gravity Sewer and Water Main Project; Shaleo said the project will be paid for with Amazon Web Service funds. The board also approved a contract for the Smilax Road lift station and force main replacement to C and E Excavating, listed in the bid documents at $10,385,374. Votes on those awards were recorded as affirmative during the roll calls.
Separately, the board approved an extension to a media contract for the county health department, and approved a short-term RBM Consulting contract to support election equipment through December (see separate articles for details). The auditor's proposed three-year contract with Debtbook, a debt/lease/subscription management platform, was discussed and then tabled for one week after commissioners requested time to review a standard-level addendum posted on the county website.
