Mike Daigle, CEO and executive director of South Bend International Airport, briefed the St. Joseph County Council on the airport authority's proposed 2025 budget during the Sept. 10 meeting. Daigle said the authority's total expense budget for 2025 is "just over $71,750,000," with more than $50 million designated for non-operating (capital) expenditures.
Daigle said the airport will receive $18,750,000 in 2025 from the Federal Airport Improvement Program, which he described as "the largest grant to come to the state of Indiana." He told the council that passenger travel is rebounding and that the airport recently added Breeze Airlines service beginning in October, with discussions ongoing about new routes and expanded service.
Daigle acknowledged rising costs for materials and contracts but said the airport remains committed to capital improvements to serve the community. He invited questions from the council; none were asked during the hearing. The public hearing on Bill 94-24 (Airport Authority budget) was then closed.
