The Board of Commissioners voted to provide letters endorsing regional grant applications during the Aug. 27 session.
Economic development staff asked for a letter of support for a Lilly Endowment regional housing opportunity. Presenters from MACOG described the funding as a regional endowment opportunity that could provide up to $20 million for housing initiatives, including a potential land bank and a regional housing affordability fund. County staff and MACOG representatives emphasized that the letter of support does not create a current financial obligation for the county.
The board also ratified support for a National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD) REDI 2 grant application related to the planned relocation of a terminal from the east side to the west side of South Bend International Airport. Commissioners approved both letters of support by motion and voice vote.
