Dr. Rios opened the special call meeting in the Amber Urie Board Room and introduced Item 1, calling it “ABA number 2425-10,” a proposed general operating fund (199) budget amendment funded by transfers from the board’s discretionary funds. Trustees accepted a $260 amendment to raise the amount to $3,860 and then approved the measure.
The approvals were brief and procedural. Dr. Rios then moved to table agenda items 2 through 4; trustees voted to table those items. Later the board unanimously certified unopposed candidates in single-member trustee districts 1, 2 and 7 for the Nov. 5, 2024 election and approved an order of cancellation for those specific district races, reflecting that no contested elections will be held in those seats.
Trustees also considered Item 7, an amendment to the superintendent’s evaluation instrument. A trustee moved to table that item for further review; the motion was seconded and approved.
After the formal business, Trustee Monica Garcia congratulated colleagues who ran unopposed and thanked teachers and staff, noting the district currently serves “almost 21,000 students” and named several schools in District 7, including Sierra High School and Sierra Middle School. The board adjourned shortly after the remarks.
