Klamath County commissioners on Dec. 10 approved a three‑year agreement with Cal‑OR Communications to provide 1 gigabit upload and download internet service to 565 Century Court, where the county's Developmental Disabilities Department will be located.
The county's IT director (Matt) told the board that local providers were contacted and Cal‑OR was the only provider able to meet the timeline and connection needs. Staff presented a service price of $249 per month for three years and asked the board to authorize the IT manager to sign the agreement. "The service will be $249 per month for 1 gigabit upload and 1 gigabit download, and the duration of the agreement is 3 years," the IT director said.
A motion to approve the IT manager signing the agreement passed by voice vote. The fiscal impact is charged to the developmental disabilities data service fund; no additional county general funds were identified in the presentation.
No public comment was taken during the item. Staff noted one existing provider had a connection already in place and others would have required costly new runs, making Cal‑OR the timely option for the move.
