County signs agreement adding county lot to Klamath Falls downtown parking district

Tax collector Rick Vaughn told the board the City of Klamath Falls offered to include the county-owned Maple (Lot 3) parking lot in the downtown parking district inventory and Pelican Pass program. Vaughn said roughly half the lot is public use and the other half is for employees; including the lot formalizes an arrangement that has existed informally and allows downtown program marketing while directing revenue to county maintenance needs such as plowing and pothole repairs.
Commissioner discussion focused on whether the arrangement commits specific public parking spaces; Vaughn said the agreement effectively formalizes the front two rows as public spaces as they always have been and allows the county to receive revenue for maintenance. The board moved, seconded and approved the agreement.
Chair Hensley called the vote and noted the motion passed.
