Board signs $2.4 million ODOT road-departure safety agreement for rumble strips, guardrail and signs

Morris said the project scope includes centerline rumble strips on Clover Creek and Silver Lake roads, chevron signs and post-mounted delineators along Bliss Road, Bly Mountain Road and North Po Valley Road, and about 3,000 feet of guardrail on North Po Valley Road plus 700 feet on Bliss Road at a sharp hairpin. He said ODOT will deliver the work because the county is not a certified delivery agency for ODOT/federal transportation projects.
Chair Dave Hensley asked about the durability of rumble strips given county chip-seal cycles; Morris said the rumbles generally last multiple chip-seal cycles and staff consider proximity to residences in design so strips aren't placed close to homes.
Hensley moved to approve agreement number 73000-030591 between the State of Oregon (ODOT) and Klamath County for the Klamath County Road Departure Safety Project. The motion passed with affirmative votes.
